Remembering Cougar Flight 491

On Thursday, March 12, 2009, Cougar Helicopter flight 491 fell into the Atlantic Ocean, just 47 nautical miles southeast of St. John’s, Newfoundland.
The 18 on board included 14 personnel on their way to the Sea Rose FPSO, 2 personnel to the Hibernia platform and 2 Cougar Helicopter crew members.
There was one survivor, Robert Decker.

This page is dedicated to my friend/coworker, John Pelley and to all the families, friends and coworkers of the victims on Cougar Flight 491.

I would like to start by offering my most sincere and deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims.

I began working offshore at the tender age of 20 in 2000 and resigned my position March 2008. I had the honor and privilege of working with John Pelley on the "GSF Grand Banks".

The reason why I started this website, is to memorialize and honor those who lost their lives, and to give hope and comfort to all those who have been affected by this horrific loss. I realize that not everyone is on Facebook® and wanted to offer a place where we can all come together to help one another.

It is my intention to give you all a place where you can go to express your feelings and memories of our friends/family/coworkers who lost their lives, and to send prayers to the families who have been deeply affected.

I would also like to give my strength and love to Robert Decker and his family. You are always in my thoughts, and I pray for the healing of your mind, body and soul.

With all the love I have in my heart, I give it all to you, to help you in the days ahead. I pray for peace in your hearts and comfort in knowing that we are hear to support you in any way possible.
